Top Engineering colleges in India!
Lately I realized that writing about technical colleges and education system is becoming one of the favorite subjects of mine. Read this blog post of mine top engineering colleges in India.
When it comes about technical educations in India, the first name which comes into our mind is of IIT, or Indian Institute of Technology colleges. Undoubtedly like many others I too tried for IIT entrance exams for 2 years. I did give the entrance exam too, but unfortunately did not get the chance to compete for it. Unfortunately my chemistry was too poor.
Like many other students my dream college was IIT Kharagpur, but any other college which I was dreaming to join as an engineering student was IIT Roorkee, which was not an IIT college those days.
It is undoubtedly true that IIT colleges are the best as far as technical or engineering colleges in India are concerned. You will be surprised to know about the number of students who sit for the entrance exams for IIT’s. Around 500,000 or more students each year give exams in IIT entrance exams as per Wikipedia.
Though, the most surprising thing, or the thing which mostly surprises me, is about the number of seats which IIT does offer. It is hardly less than 10,000 only as per the same Wikipedia pages details. Consider a scenario in which around 500,000 students sit for this entrance test, while only 10,000 out of them (in fact less than that) get a chance to take admission in the prestigious college.
My question is, in a country like India, where people claims you a failure if you fail to get an admission in IIT’s, what is the future of those students who did not get a chance to take admission in the prestigious IIT Colleges? I guess I remember that the same scenario was somewhat tackled in a famous novel by Chetan Bhagat, and its name was Revolution 2020.
It is really tough to get admission in either IIT or any other top engineering colleges in India. No doubt about it. But my dear friends, if you failed to clear the IIT entrance exams, then it is not the end of your life. Remember you have several more engineering colleges from where you can get quality education and fulfill your dream.
If you go by the list of engineering colleges in India, you will find that there are only 10-12 IIT colleges in India and around 2800+ more engineering colleges in existence over here. I certainly don’t claim that these colleges are of better quality than of IIT, but it is not also true that you are wasting your life if you are reading in any such colleges.
So the best suggestion which I can give to any aspiring engineering student is that you should not lose your heart if you did not get a chance to take admission in IIT colleges, there are certainly plenty more engineering colleges out here in India, and there is plenty of life outside IIT. You should know how to enjoy your life if you did not get an admission over there.
